LGBTQ+ Vocabulary Solidarity

According to feminist writer Bell Hooks, solidarity is not just support, which can be sporadic and easily withdrawn, but a sustained, ongoing commitment to shared beliefs and goals that unite people who fight for each other.

Practicing solidarity unites people who work towards achieving gender, racial, economic, social, and environmental justice. Civil rights activists and feminists often express this commitment by quoting poet Emma Lazarus "until we are all free, we are non of us free."

until we are all free, we are none of us free."
