35 Days Until The UCC Anniversary

Following the union [formation of the United Church of Canada] of 1925, the name of the [Carman] church again became known as Clarkson Community Church. Carman United Church was now in the Toronto West Presbytery which already had a Carman Church. As the Clarkson Church was only a small, rural charge, Presbytery and Conference decided there could only be one Carman Church in the Presbytery. The one at Clarkson would have to find another name.

The Church was known by this name until 1954 when it was decided to build a new church on Mazo Crescent when it was renamed Christ Church. [The Chapel in the Oliver wing is named the “Carman Chapel.”]

Similarly, Port Credit United became First United Church some time after The United Church union.
