The quilting group, started in 1941 at First United Church, continues to this day. The group meets every Tuesday (except July & August) from 9 a.m. - 2:00 pm. in Room 24 at the Clarkson Campus building, where they enjoy lunching together and delicious snacks every week.
Friendship is an important part of the craft and friendships in the group are strong and enduring. It tends to bring a calmness to the mind and body while chatting and laughing all the while.
Every year we create and sell quilts with one always designated for a raffle with proceeds given to the church. The quilts can be from personal projects, baby quilts, lap quilts, but mainly queen size quilts.
Lately, we have been asked to design a communion table quilt and banners for the two chancels to celebrate our role as an Affirming Church.
Please stop by anytime to see what we’re creating presently.
Present members: Helen Heatley, Kay Cranston, Christine Whiting, Chris Kerr, Peggy Forde, Mary Bayne, Tanya Swinbourne and Janet Miller.
