Social gatherings have been a mainstay of our United Churches, including card clubs and couples’ clubs. A plaque at the Port Credit campus acknowledges the importance of these social groups. It reads:
"This plaque acknowledges with thanks and appreciation a group, first known as The Couples Club, later as The Sets and Singles Club, and finally as The Social Club. Founded in 1947, this group has provided fellowship and social activities for members of First United Church for sixty four years."
