45 Days Until The UCC Anniversary

In 1975, The United Church of Canada celebrated it’s 50th anniversary. In celebration, Halton Presbytery (comprised of 30-40 churches in Oakville, Burlington and Mississauga) hosted a picnic with attendance estimated at 4,000 people. An extensive program of entertainment kept the picnic lively all day. Singers, choirs, guitarists, and puppeteers entertained the crowd. There was a family scavenger hunt, children’s races, skits, pony rides, as well as donut, apple and watermelon eating contests and games for adults to round out the entertainment. The day closed with a worship service featuring a Parade of the Decades, presenting both secular and religious highlights of the years since Union.
