The Clarkson Women's Institute was founded in 1913 as the Clarkson-Lorne Park Women's Institute. Meetings were held the third Tuesday of each month alternately between Carman Methodist Church and the Lorne Park Mission Hall. The Institute did a great deal of work during the First World War to aid the soldiers who were shipping out for Europe. They hosted annual strawberry festivals in support of veterans after the war. The Clarkson Women's Institute was disbanded in 1948.
